The 7 day, 7 book giveaway starts tomorrow

I don’t know if it’s true that 7 is a lucky number but it could be yours. Starting tomorrow, I’ll be clearing out my back log of book freebies. I’ve got seven titles to give away so there will be seven lucky winners over the next 7+ days. It’s time to get back into the Fashion-Incubator habit, stay tuned tomorrow for the first book. Until then, here is a sneak peek of the 4 technical books we’ll be giving away…

Edit: There seems to be a bit of confusion. You are not entered to win by posting a comment to this entry. You will need to enter for each book separately as they are posted each day. Likewise, you’ll have to read the rules for each one because they will differ. Old-timers know that. Sometimes you have to do silly things like post in haiku -just because we think it is fun and we enjoy seeing the funny stuff our friends come up with.

The reason we have entry rules is because nobody enjoys comment after comment from people who just want something free because it lessens the opportunity for people who are truly motivated and needful of what’s up for grabs. In addition, it is disheartening for our regular visitors to see me me me me posts from people who have never participated or contributed to make this site the destination that it is.

Edit #2: I’m temporarily closing comments to this post because it continues to attract comments from those who just saw “free!” and responded thinking they’d entered without reading this entire post.  Makes you wonder if they’d read the book … it’s one thing to throw candy off the side of a parade float, quite another to give something away free that is important to the benefactor.

Ooooh boy! Knowledge just waiting to be learned! I am going to cross my fingers and toes for a somethin’ new to read :)

I should add these all to my list of reading anyways!

Wow! Anyone of those titles would be cool—interested especially in the draping manual, have not seen as many around since draping is so hands on, seems to be handed down, rather than recorded.

Loved the recent post about organizing one’s thoughts on paper to show the people who will be making designs. Coming from theatre design/construction and working in costume shops, wish more would have put it out like that!

With so many giveaways, we’re sure to have lurkers joining in the festivities from all corners. Maybe you’ll break a highest comment count record this week!

    Wow, what a great giveaway!
I’m staying tuned for sure… I’m all into patter grading atm, so… finger crossed!!
Thank you Kathleen for the opportunity!!!

Ooooh! You always have such helpful books in your giveaways, Kathleen!

While they all would be extremely useful, my eyes immediately went to “The Grading Workbook.” Gives you an idea of what I’m working on, doesn’t it? ;)

  6. Patricia says:

With such nice books, even the Grumpy Cat would smile right now.
The draping one fills my imagination with amazing designs.

I’m new to the site and would love to enter in the giveaway, but have not found a page on which to do so. How do I enter?

Thank you for all the great information on the site – I just finished reading about pattern scissors – finally, a resource that explains WHY we use certain ones rather than just saying “use these”.

    Hi Lat
You can enter each day by posting a comment on the entry for a given book. I suspect people thought they were entering by posting on this entry so I should have made that clear sooner.

  9. Diana says:

Oh boy that draping book would be a real prize for me as I am going back to school in the fall. Taking apparel technology. I love your book.

Patternmaking Made Easy sounds like my kind of book. I will keep reading your posts even if I dont win. Thanks.

  11. Sarah Im says:

I am definitely going to enter!
But, just in case I don’t win, where can I purchase the patternmaking and grading books?
    I can’t find them on Amazon.. :(

  12. Sharon Hebein says:

I just got with a stylisti and it would be so awesome to get these books and hone my skills!

  13. Olivia Preston says:

To be honest- I have NEVER won any competition I enter… But I am crossing my finger and toes (everything but my eyes lol) because I NEED that patternmaking book and grading book. I am just starting my fashion design diploma here in Australia and am having SO much trouble with patternmaking- but I so desperately WANT to be great at it.(I’ve never been much good at maths though). Anyway… I’m not sure how we enter this but PLEASE please please consider me. I’m studying by distance so do not have many resources and being on a disability pension makes it near impossible to purchase these expensive but essential books!

You would just make my world brighter!

Have a great day everyone! And thank you for the wonderful chance fashion incubator!
And I DO wish everyone good luck! X

I’m posting the edit I made to this entry as a comment.

So, we figure if you really want something and you really need it, you’ll invest in reading the rules of entry for each book and responding appropriately. We appreciate your understanding.
