As you can surmise from the photo of the exuberantly wound bobbin at right, we’d been having minor annoyances* with respect to bobbin winding lately. I’d always to buy a dedicated stand alone bobbin winder to replace the ghetto winder I’d made out of parts cannibalized from an$11 hand mixer that has since disappeared but the units cost more than I’d wanted to spend.…
The only thing harder to find than a good sewing contractor who can sew small lots at a reasonable price (I work with one closely by the way) is a good sewing machine mechanic.

I meant to follow up last week’s beginner’s guides to industrial machines (pt.1 and pt.2) with a mention of getting electrical service to the machines. If you just have a machine or two, the space is relatively small in that you can locate machines close to outlets, this isn’t much of a problem.…
