First, you don’t need to be a member of the forum to leave a comment on this site. There seems to be a bit of confusion about that.

At this time -subject to change without notice- the forum is a premium offered to anyone -entrepreneurs and enthusiasts alike- who has purchased a new copy of my book The Entrepreneur’s Guide to Sewn Product Manufacturing contributing to this site’s existence.

Edit 5/3/13: I strongly recommend that you read this post in its entirety -even (or especially) internet whiz kids- or your registration may be automatically deleted. Humor this doddering old woman, okay? For what it’s worth, it is usually sophisticated web users who have problems with registration because they see that first screen cap below and then scamper off only to get pwned. I’ll know if you haven’t read this (and or the user agreement) because I have super powers! </soapbox>

To start, navigate as illustrated below.

Once there, you need to register (below).

Be sure to read the user agreement (more detail) which is customized for our purposes; it’s not the same old, same old. We have a username policy. As a professional forum, your username must be your real name. The forum, while private, is not anonymous. As of 11.15.2008, the protocol is firstname space lastname.

The agreement outlines our confidentiality agreement which we take very seriously. We share highly proprietary information including names of sources, contact information and prices. People who violate forum confidentiality are suspended. Everyone wants their conversations to be held in the highest confidence.

Fill out the registration form. There is a challenge question (“Roses are …., violets are blue“) which if not answered properly (insert “red”), will not be processed. The question is designed to eliminate spambot registrations and I will never see it if you amuse yourself by answering something other than “red”. If you’re using a spam challenge email address, your registration will also be refused (more on why). Again, as this forum is private, you will not have the sorts of problems that plague other online forums. If you have a problem, you’d be the first. If it should happen, advise me and I will immediately take care of it.

Once you complete the registration, you will receive an email from the system. In other words, if you’ve registered and get an automated email response, this does not mean your membership has been approved. You must read the email response and follow the instructions within 48 hours or your registration will be deleted. If you can’t respond in that time frame for whatever reason and are deleted, just re-apply. No harm, no foul. Be sure to include your user name when you return your proof of purchase for the book because I cannot always guess it amid the new registrations for the day. There is more information in the public forum folder  Info on Membership and in the email the system will email you (also customized).

Im reading your book now. Now in pandemic COVID19 virus world, do you intend to continue boot camps and when are they held/registration? And for our uncertain future, are you accepting payment toward boot camp participation?

While the current situation is dire with many of us impacted by the pandemic, we (like everyone else) will find a way forward to continue as we’d been.

The boot camp schedule is set, you can find those details on abqfi.org. As far as the Fall event, who can say? Considering the disease trajectory in other nations, I would imagine that we will be back to normal (or whatever that is) by then.

No, we’re not accepting payment for the event yet. We wouldn’t be until we’d held the lottery and had selected candidates. We haven’t even opened registration yet -too much going on to deal with that right now. As it is, our Fall event will probably have very few slots available. I’d given the people who had to cancel for Spring, a guaranteed slot for Fall. The number of openings would depend on how many people came back for the Fall event. I recommend signing up at abqfi.org to be notified of future posts. Hopefully we’ll meet you at an event in the future!

Hi Kathleen, will you still be doing any more boot camps in the future? The abqfi.org seems like the last one was Spring, 2020.
