Archives 5/21- 5/27 2005-2009

Thus comes the harbinger of summer holiday…Memorial Day. What’s your tradition? Do you observe the traditional intent or is the long weekend a commemoration to hot dogs on the grill? Over the past five or six years, Mr. Fashion-Incubator and I go to the annual local wine festival to stock up for the year. This year I don’t know what we’ll do. I’ve told Mr. F-I we have too many chores to justify going off to play but maybe I’ll relent. At the end of a long week, I’m ready for a diversion. Especially after today’s power outage. I tell you, it rains a scant insufficiency to even pack the dust and the power goes out for hours. All one can do is pull weeds or something.

And as ever, here’s this week’s entry from the archives. Hope your weekend is friendly and fun.

Our Memorial Day weekend started this year with celebrating our 11th wedding anniversary…I took him out to breakfast, he let me go wild at the plant nursery. I have in mind a large planter with lots of color on the patio table by the back door.

Hope everyone is having a happy weekend, and spending some time remembering those who have given their lives in the service of our country. Walk through a cemetery sometime and just notice the soldiers. There is an old church cemetery just up the road that has stones for soldiers as far back as the Civil War. We were giving all the soldiers flags the year we saw that. I hope those Confederate soldiers appreciated their stars and stripes.
