As a reminder, the Apparel Industry Board Inc (AIBI) is putting on a fabric show to be held in Chicago on June 5th and 6th (this coming Monday and Tuesday). It’s the perfect venue for designers looking to buy small quantities of fabrics. Following the fabric show on Monday, the AIBI is hosting Fashion Group International’s Audiovisual Trend Report. You can see an overview of New York, Milan and Paris Fall/Winter 2006/2007 Collections. Cost is $25. For more information, call 312.836.1041 or e-mail them directly.

Apparently, there’s officially a fashion community called Stitch in Austin TX.
Stitch is community directed rather than competition oriented, ultimately designed to showcase the work of independent designers in a new format. Stitch serves as an opportunity for participants to connect and build relationships with other members of the creative community.
They’re accepting applications for an event called Stitch #4 with runway segments and craft fair booths to be held November 11, 2006. Application deadline is August 15th.

A designer co-op boutique will be opening in Los Angeles on August 1st.
This boutique Co-op will bring together emerging fashion stars and give them a platform to create their own retail mini-boutique. Creative mini-boutiques will make up the store located on Pacific Coast Highway in Hermosa Beach, California. The boutique will give selected designers the opportunity to rent retail space to sell their product and receive their profits. Along with retail space, designers will be on the forefront of one of LA’s most fashion-forward boutiques. Designers accepted will be a part of a major PR push that will include press releases, celebrity and stylist outreach, opening parties and in-store events.
Here is more information and an application.
I wish someone had told me about Aibi sooner. I cant go to fabric show if I find out at the last minute.
I’ve posted on AIBI several times; for each show they put on, I post twice. I last posted on this particular show in March
I did not discover this site till April so I missed the post about this. Iam paying attention now tho.
