Site will be a little wonky…

I’m unveiling a new site design today. The site -and forum- will be a little wonky during the migration process. Stay tuned and I appreciate your patience.

New visitors: If the masthead has a red stripe, the site has been switched over.

Update 3:30 PM: So, whaddya think? We’ve added new features you’ll like such as being notified by email when a comment thread has been updated. Doubtful that I’ll do a real post today because I’ll be poking around under the hood a bit having to learn new software (Word Press). Your comments will load faster.

The new site design was done by Ashweb Media. Jasonda provided the masthead artwork. What you see now is a mock-up; she’s working on the final version. I hope you like the design and functionality.

Another update: Among other things, comments have disappeared, don’t know what the problem is. I can see them from the back end. ~sigh~ No matter, it’ll be fixed tomorrow. For now, you can see the comments for this entry here. For any other entry, click the “Comments RSS feed” linkat the close of the entry.

Cool masthead look–the red is nice. I really prefer the comments with the content though. I hate switching back and forth.

Anyway mainly I say thumbs up.

  2. Congratulations! And thank you for the follow-up comment notifier.

Technical glitch: I can’t see any comments. This post claims to have four comments, but I can’t see them. I’m using IE 6.0.2900.2180.

At the moment, the only way I can see comments is by clicking on “Comments RSS feed”.

Earlier this afternoon, I got the new search feature to work in Foxfire 2.0.0.15 (on SUSE Linux) but that seems to have decided it’s not presently working.

I’m very sorry to see that you’ve modified the site to require javascript for all sorts of ‘features’ … like the ability to read the blog at all — it’s a notorious security problem, and combined with the shoddy attitude and poor attention to security that WordPress unfortunately (as one of the better bits of blog software) has, disappointing in the extreme.

I’ll certainly miss the old format for ease of reading wherever I might be — this one seems cramped, and the CSS does rather peculiar things without javascript as well.

Comments come up as HTML page with all of the formatting marks. I’m reading from work where we are forced to use IE6. I didn’t check from home this morning where I use Firefox 3. Hope this feedback helps. I like the new site otherwise.

Congrat’s for taking the leap! And many thanks for your continual investment of time and resources! What you’ve created is invaluable, including the community that has gathered. You are a total inspiration, doin it and doin it well. xoxoxoxo

miss the links on the lefthand sidebar.
I’ll be adding those to the Resources page. I’m stuck on how to format it tho. I’m thinking columns rather than one long list. Hopefully I’ll have it up this weekend.
