hupfeld_hoerderMonica sends word of a fundraising event, the London Pacific Fashion Show to be held in London UK next October. While quite awhile off, she mentions the work of participating designers is available for viewing now. Monica is particularly drawn to the weaving and artistry of Shona Tawhiao (New Zealand). I liked most of the artists represented although I wasn’t as enamored of the sportswear. At right is a style from Fiji designer Hupfeld Hoerder. I’m not as well versed as many of you but would this fabric be bark cloth? In any event, if you won’t be in London next October, you need not wait to see Pacific Rim eye candy.

So how is this Sunday treating you in your part of the world? Today is a bit dreary, I’m waiting for spring with a bit of trepidation, hoping this year won’t be a repeat of last year. Last year we had a spate of uncharacteristically cold weather -below zero, the coldest in recorded history in some parts of New Mexico -after the apple trees had started budding. The cold killed them all and we had no apples. Not in my yard or the entire state. It seems the winter has been uncharacteristically mild in most parts of the US this year, bad news for coat sellers.

And so it goes. Below you’ll find links to entries published here for this week over the past almost seven years now. If you’re sufficiently inspired to read more, there is always the archives page which contains links to nearly every post ever published. Have a warm and productive week.

Interesting fashion art! There is a great deal of use of batiks from that general part of the world in plus size clothing here. Don’t know if it runs into regular misses wear or not, but it lends itself to the long shirts that plus size women prefer.

Sunday was not dreary, in contrast to Saturday which held rain and gusty wind and miserable near-freezing temperatures. Guess which day we picked to drive out to the coast and discover a cove with a crumbling ruin hidden between two folds of the sea cliff. V. atmospheric but left me with cold, wet feet. If I can’t find and fix the leaks, these shoes are history.

Visitors sent onto the next stages of their journeys, so back to mundane tasks *sigh*.
